Description

Angised is a prescription sublingual tablet containing glyceryl trinitrate 0.5 mg. It provides rapid relief and short-term prevention of angina (chest pain) by relaxing and widening blood vessels.

Usage & Safety

For Adult

• At the onset of angina, place 1 tablet under the tongue and allow it to dissolve; do not chew or swallow it whole.
• If pain is not relieved, a further tablet may be used every 5 minutes, up to a maximum of 3 tablets within 15 minutes.
• If chest pain continues after 3 tablets or becomes severe, seek emergency medical help immediately.
• Use while seated where possible because dizziness or fainting may occur. Follow the prescriber’s instructions for preventive use.

For Children

• Not routinely recommended for children.
• Use in pediatric patients only under specialist medical supervision; no general pediatric dose or established weight-based limit should be assumed.

Side Effects

• Common: throbbing headache, dizziness, light-headedness, flushing, nausea, weakness, and a drop in blood pressure
• Postural hypotension, fainting, fast heartbeat, or palpitations may occur, particularly after standing
• Serious: severe or persistent low blood pressure, collapse, worsening chest pain, shortness of breath, allergic reaction, or bluish discoloration associated with methemoglobinemia
• Seek urgent medical attention for fainting, severe breathing difficulty, or chest pain that persists or worsens

Contraindications

• Allergy or hypersensitivity to glyceryl trinitrate, other nitrates, or any tablet ingredient
• Severe low blood pressure, shock, or significant dehydration or blood-volume loss
• Concurrent use of phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil, or use of riociguat
• Severe anemia, increased intracranial pressure, cerebral hemorrhage, or recent head injury unless specifically directed by a physician
• Use with caution in aortic or mitral stenosis, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, glaucoma, severe liver or kidney disease, or recent heart attack
• Do not use this medicine to treat chest pain without medical assessment if the diagnosis is uncertain

Precautions & Warnings

• Do not combine with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, avanafil, or riociguat because a dangerous fall in blood pressure may occur.
• Alcohol may intensify dizziness and low blood pressure and should be avoided or limited.
• Blood-pressure-lowering medicines, other nitrates, vasodilators, alpha-blockers, and some medicines for erectile dysfunction may enhance hypotension.
• Medicines that increase blood pressure or reduce the effect of nitrates may alter symptom control; consult a healthcare professional before combining treatments.
• There are no important food restrictions, but avoid taking the tablet with food in the mouth and allow it to dissolve under the tongue.

Pregnancy

• Use during pregnancy only when clearly needed and prescribed after the potential benefits and risks have been assessed.
• It is not known whether glyceryl trinitrate passes into breast milk; consult a healthcare professional before breastfeeding while using it.
